There are moments in life when you realize that the work you are called to do is not separate from who you
are. It is woven into your story, your identity, and the way you see the world. For me, that realization did not
come all at once. It grew quietly, shaped by the people I met, the struggles I witnessed, and the deep
conviction that no one should feel unseen. I am Santia Calixte, Founder and President of Miyka’el Foundation, and I have carried this calling since childhood, long before I had the language to describe it. Growing up in Haiti, I saw what hunger really looked like on the face of my own classmates. I knew kids who were entirely on their own, with no one to call family. I did not know then that those quiet moments would become the foundation of a lifelong mission. I only knew that something in me refused to look away, and even as a young girl, I felt responsible for doing something about it.

As I grew older, that sense of responsibility matured into purpose. My faith deepened, and my understanding of who I am and who I belong to became clearer. I am a woman of the Word, and I believe deeply in what it teaches: to deliver the needy, visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, defend the oppressed, show mercy to the stranger, and seek justice for those who have no one to stand for them. To me, that is the truest expression of devotion. And it is the standard by which this Foundation operates. With that clarity came an unshakeable commitment to serve with dignity, compassion, and truth. Not out of charity, but out of identity. Not out of obligation, but out of love.

I also walked through my own seasons of need. I know what it feels like to struggle, to not know where to turn, and to hope someone will simply understand. Those experiences shape the way this Foundation operates and the way I choose to serve. They taught me to meet people with compassion, not judgment, and to offer help in a way that honors dignity.

Miyka’el Foundation was born from that place. It is not an organization I created simply because I wanted to start something. It is an expression of who I am and the people I am called to serve. It is the work of restoration, of standing beside others in their hardest seasons, of offering care that honors the humanity of every person.

This Foundation was created for those who often fall through the cracks. For those who feel forgotten, invisible, or overlooked. For families who earn too much to qualify for assistance but not enough to afford the basics. For the ones who only need a little help to get back on their feet. For the small needs that require jumping through hoops just to receive help. For the needs that are not common enough to have a clear pathway, leaving people unsure of where to even begin looking for help. I am here for those moments.

And even when we cannot meet the need directly, we will guide you toward the resources that can. To know me is to know that my ears are always here to listen, my hands are always ready to help, and my heart is always willing to serve. Whatever season you find yourself in, you do not have to walk through it alone. If you are here because you need help, my first question is simple: what can we do for you?
